Call for entries: Art Prize for Digital Fine Art

Entries will open on April 2 for the Lumen Prize Exhibition, the world’s first award for fine art created in digital form. Now in its second year, the competition offers cash prizes and a global tour for the world’s finest digital art.

Last year’s Lumen attracted entries from more than 30 countries, with top honours won by artists from Sweden, Belgium and the US. Its tour included London, Shanghai, Hong Kong and Riga. First stop on next year’s tour will be New York City.

logo-largeDigital fine art is a cutting edge genre with many artists around the world now working with the latest digital tools.  As Charles Saumarez-Smith, chief executive of the Royal Academy recently noted: No artist can afford to ignore…the way the world has been transformed by new digital technology.” The Lumen Prize is the first to showcase this emerging form.

Entries for the 2013 Prize and tour will open on April 2 and close on July 31st. Entrants will be competing for a total prize fund of US$5,250 as well as a place in the Lumen Prize Exhibition. The announcement of the winners will take place in Cardiff’s City Hall in mid-October.

All submitted works will be reviewed by an International Selection Committee of art specialists, academics and gallery owners. It will choose 100 works for the Lumen Online Gallery which opens in September for a public vote for the Lumen People’s Choice Award.

Works chosen for the Lumen Online Gallery will be reviewed by an international jury panel for a place in the Lumen Prize Exhibition as well as the top 3 cash prizes.
