PUBLIC SAFETY (Participatory Installation & Performance)

mail

Inaugural opening of the new Glasshouse location; participatory audio visual performance installation by Lital Dotan & Eyal Perry with Fates (Django Voris & PJ Norman).
‘Public Safety’ is a large scale installation of “performance facilities” & facilitators, that transform the entire storefront and project space of Glasshouse into a “participatory performance machine”, giving a comic, technical interpretation to the generating mechanisms of participatory performance art.
The title is taken from speeches made by public officials regarding the OWS Movement protests and similar uprisings of past year, when justifying the use of aggressive tools against protestors. Also on view is the sound installation ‘Open System Audio Surveillance’ by Fates that gives Glasshouse’s ‘Bubble’ (closed circuit camera installation) new vocal life.
